Job Description:
Manages a team of professionals and/or junior managers. Leads and manages complex engineering projects and functions within the facility and/or region. Utilizes lean manufacturing and project management skills to build and track project scope, tasks, resource requirements, budget, and schedule to ensure safety, regulatory, and policy requirements are met. Managerial responsibilities include developing and implementing policies and procedures, assisting in the development of functional strategy, and managing an organizational budget. Demonstrates the ability to influence others to accept practices and approaches in sensitive situations while maintaining positive relationships. Key Responsibilities Responsible for multiple concurrent projects and providing technical guidance to Engineers. Functional expert managing the design, development, acquisition, installation, maintenance, repair and overhauling for equipment and tooling. Conducts project review meetings, evaluates project feasibility and develops project proposals and coordinates approved projects. Develops and tracks project scope, tasks, resources, budgets and schedules. Prepares project status reports for senior management. Ensures standardization of training, equipment and tooling, maintenance, and capital investment. Assists with the development of training material and conducts training when appropriate. Continually evaluates engineering requirements, current procedures, and equipment and recommends changes and modifications to ensure optimal efficiency, safety and longevity. Supports annual budget preparation and monitors budget. Participates in planning sessions for capital expense, operational improvements and strategic growth. Develops and manages equipment suppliers and third party engineering relationships. Directs engineering activities of third party engineering resources for facilities, equipment and tooling, including design, build, installation and servicing. Stays current on engineering trends in developing technologies and practices. Incorporates safety measures are within design specifications, ensuring guards and safety features are working, and promoting safety practices and habits, etc. Performs managerial duties including communicating goals and objectives, applying company policies, staffing, training, and coaching, recommending salary increases, administering discipline, ensuring positive colleague relations, and reviewing colleague performance. Performs other duties as assigned. Education and Experience Typically possesses Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) and 12
years of experience. Knowledge and Skills Possesses thorough knowledge of engineering and its application, including industrial instrumentation, electrical systems, manufacturing processes, chemical concepts, and lean manufacturing concepts. Experienced in managing large teams of professionals and/or junior Managers. Possesses excellent interpersonal, communications, computer, planning, and project management skills. Strong technical acumen and understanding of financial concepts (cost analysis, budgets). Adept at prioritizing competing demands. Demonstrates professionalism, diplomacy, and the ability to bring about agreement between colleagues in sensitive situations while maintaining positive relationships. Proficiency in relevant Engineering software (e.g. CAD). PMP, CAPM, or comparable project management certification desired.
Salary Range:
$100K -- $150K
Minimum Qualification
Plant & Facilities ManagementEstimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
