Associate Research Administrator

The Department of Translational Genomics is seeking an Associate Research Administrator to become part of our team. The position will play a key role within the department as we continue to grow as a department and provide the necessary research management support for our faculty. The successful candidate will have prior experience in research administration in an academic research environment. The Associate Research Administrator will manage day-to-day activities for both pre and post-award for the department, including research activities for our department chair and institute director. Job responsibilities include:
Support department faculty with the submission of proposals to sponsoring agencies. Prepare budgets and gather all documents necessary to submit proposals per agency and university guidelines. Manage budgets and account activities related to sponsored research accounts. Process award closeout and related documents after grant period. Reconcile and generate monthly financial reports and provide faculty with updated account summaries and projections. Process, review, and approve various expenditures (payroll, procurement, reimbursements) to ensure they are charged to the correct account, also ensure transactions meet both university and sponsor guidelines. Prepare and revise various documents related to research administrations, included but not limited to biosketch and current and pending support. Create cohesive working relationships with the KSOM Office to Research and other central offices (DTG, SPA, Office of Financial Analysis) on all research administration matters. Support all elements of institutional compliance to ensure that all policies and procedures are followed across all areas of research administration Serves as subject matter expert for principal investigators. Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree with at least three years of account and budget management experience, prior research administration experience strongly preferred. Proficiency in MS Office Suite. Working knowledge of university financial systems and Cayuse strongly preferred. The ability to prioritize, organize, analyze, and work independently in a fast-paced working environment is highly preferred. Basic knowledge of governmental regulations. Strong accounting skills. Competency in project management. A Bachelor's Degree with broad knowledge of relevant research computer software, e.g.:
Microsoft Access, Word, Excel, PowerPoint; Outlook, SPSS, Visio, and SunGard. Experience in creating and analyzing statistical reports. Must be able to utilize computer technology to access data, maintain records and generate reports. Proven oral and written communication skills to interact with other employees.
Salary Range:
$80K -- $100K

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
