The Director of Data Engineering is a member of the IBD Technology team. This person manages, partially hands-on, integration of data into IBD products and delivery of data to the analytics and data science team. Data engineering is a key piece of IBD. Stock market data and IBD's unique assessment of it drives the value proposition IBD offers to its Internet users. This application of this data by IBD products is central to IBD users performing sophisticated analysis of individual stocks. The Director of Data Engineering is central to ensuring the efficient and accurate delivery of that into IBD products. Data engineering also provides data for IBD's Analytics team. This data includes customer subscription data, product usage data, and other sources of data that are delivered into the IBD Data Lake in AWS. Responsibilities:
Exert technical influence by sharing deep data management and engineering knowledge to increase team's productivity and effectiveness. Work with Legal, Compliance, and Security to ensure data products are compliant with regulations such as GDPR and CCPA. Accountable for ensuring that data engineering activities are aligned with enterprise data security and cloud governance practices. Accountable for ensuring that data engineering activities are aligned with technical and product roadmaps and ensure on-time and on-budget delivery Work with product team to determine strategy for integrating new data feeds into IBD's products Create, iterate, and manage the vision of how data flows from transactional systems to data warehouses and lakes Develop the roadmap for the data functions that clearly define ownership, accountability, and responsibility Build, hire, and cultivate a world-class data engineering team Clearly communicate architectural decisions, plans, and standards for products we create and support Project manage timelines for technical and product roadmap items Lead the integration of Dow Jones market data platform into IBD products Be the technical SME for stock market data as used in IBD products Required
Experience:
Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution in Computer Science, Information Systems or related field with 7-10 years of experience. A natural leader, able to merge technical and business. Very strong technical skills in the areas of database design, SQL (Microsoft stack), and NoSQL. Knowledge of business metrics related to an online subscription-based consumer product. Experience working with complex and varied data sources and very large data sets. Experience working in team-oriented, agile and collaborative environments. Experience developing solutions with multiple data platforms including MSSQL, Redshift and Postgres. Strong experience with multiple data reporting platforms (Tableau, SSRS, etc). Proven analytical, evaluative and problem-solving abilities. Knowledge of fundamental Machine Learning and Data Science fundamentals Skills:
Advanced business acumen and mathematical abilities. Experience in database technology, architectures, SQL, ETL patterns and processes. Excellent verbal and written communication skills Excellent interpersonal skills demonstrated by facilitation, collaboration and conflict resolution. Salary Range:
$250K -- $500K+
Minimum Qualification
Data Science & Machine LearningEstimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
