DEN Software Development Manager

DEN is the USC Viterbi School of Engineering's graduate online engineering program that supports more than 40 master's degrees and noncredit programs in a hybrid model supporting faculty and students in the classroom and students online (DEN@Viterbi). DEN's infrastructure consists of 18
hybrid classrooms and learning environments including learning management systems, lecture recording, database systems, and staff in areas of classroom operations, instructional services, technical support, systems administration, software programming, and advisement services. DEN's Software Development Manager is responsible for the software programming area of DEN. This position oversees DEN's core programming and software development areas. This position is primarily responsible for creating and integrating learning tools and third-party applications into DEN's learning systems and technical infrastructure as well as overseeing database systems, data integrations and reports, and student supporting processes. This position ensures DEN's learning systems and platforms are integrated with classroom facilities, student processes, third party tools, and connected to learning management systems. This position additionally oversees student facing tools for DEN and other academic units. JOB ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Serves as primary lead for programming and software development projects. Provides backend programming support for DEN@Viterbi infrastructure including learning management systems, data integrations, third party tools, and student servicing tools. Supports DEN's learning management system and classroom technologies in areas of course and enrollment management, student enrollment tools, and integrations of custom and third-party tools and applications. Serves as primary liaison to end users including staff and advisors. Communicates with key staff to identify project scope of work and ensures systems security through internal and university protocols. Programming support of database systems for all aspects of DEN's infrastructures mentioned as well as data reporting purposes. Coordinates with faculty and researchers in the integration and development of educational research projects into DEN's learning environment. Oversees staff and student workers in the software development area. Stays updated and informed in online and hybrid learning environment systems and tools. Participates in professional organizations, meetings, and seminars in this space and mentors junior level staff and student workers. Follows protocols and procedures to ensure application and data access security. Minimum Qualifications Experienced in software and database programming processes. Experienced with software requirements and project management. Experienced with data modeling and database design and queries for data integration and reports. Preferred Qualifications Additional qualifications include advanced proficiency in PHP, production experience with MySQL, strong familiarity with HTML, CSS, and JavasScript (jQuery, Bootstrap, etc.). Complex SQL queries. Minimum Education:
Bachelor's Degree Combined experience/education as substitute for minimum education Preferred Education:
Master's Degree 3 Years

Salary Range:
$100K -- $150K
Minimum Qualification
Software DevelopmentEstimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
