Los Angeles, CA Los Angeles, CA Full-time Full-time 4 days ago 4 days ago 4 days ago Reporting to the Interlibrary Loan and Document Delivery Borrowing Lead (ILL/DD BL) the Interlibrary Borrowing Assistant (IBA) assists with handling of the day to day processing of interlibrary loan requests received from VDX.
Major duties include bibliographic verification of requests including determining lenders and holdings information.
Assist with producing student employee's daily work schedule and supervision and training of 6 FTE student employees in processing materials received from lending institutions.
The IBA is responsible for overseeing all billing issues related to books borrowed from institutions.
The IBA provides service at the Circulation Desk during regularly scheduled hours and performs additional administrative tasks as assigned.
The UCLA Library Interlibrary Loan and Document Delivery (ILL/DD) department provides interlibrary loan services for the eight UCLA Libraries (Charles E Young Library, Biomedical, Music, Powell, Rosenfeld, Science and Engineering Boelter and Geology) reporting to the University Librarian.
The department handles 50,000 lending requests and 32,000 borrowing requests annually for all types of materials, both print and electronic in nature.
ILL/DD works with libraries nationally and worldwide to provide UCLA patrons with needed research material not owned by the University, and also works with other libraries to share UCLA's world-renowned collections with their patrons.
UCLA ILL/DD is the largest ILL center in the UC system in terms of number of requests processed and filled for library patrons.
The Enterprise-Wide Operations section of Access Services is responsible for coordinating and executing annual deposits of materials from the libraries to the Southern Regional Library Facility, planning and executing large-scale shifting operations, pulling and replacing materials for various digitization projects, opening and receiving shelf-ready materials at various libraries, and coordinating course reserves policies at the UCLA Libraries.

Demonstrated knowledge of the various operations of a large, high volume, Interlibrary Loan operation in an academic library, including borrowing, lending, billing, and public services.

Demonstrated knowledge of circulation, acquisitions, and technical services processing in a large academic library.

Demonstrated experience with an integrated library system such as ALMA and UC Search.
