GENERAL SUMMARY Performs various accounts receivable activities for major hospital clientele.
Places outbound telephone calls and accurately documents all information pertaining to client's account utilizing PC based applications.
Aids in working on unresolved patient accounts to determine the appropriate action necessary to resolve open balances.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES ? Responsible for obtaining payment of claims from Contracted, Commercial and Manage Care Plans by following the the contract expected reimbursement amounts.
? Consistently follow up on unpaid, under paid and denied claims utilizing monthly aging reports, filing appeals and establish/maintain strong relationships with providers, clients and fellow staff.
? Investigate insurance denials and identify issues then take best action to get claim paid.
? Understands and adheres to each insurance carrier's claim submission guidelines.
? Determines need for payer appeal and sends appeal with all necessary documentation.
? Monitors appeals outcomes and determines is second or third level appeals are warranted.
? Access denied claims from the worklist and queries claim status with the payor, utilizing all appropriate systems, websites to effectively research claim and resubmit or appeal as necessary.
? Makes necessary arrangements for medical records requests, completion of additional information requests etc.
as requested by insurance companies to ensure timely resolution of outstanding denied/unpaid claims ? Operates a PC, relevant applications / software, telephone, fax and copier.
? Maintains compliance with FDCPA and HIPAA requirements.
? Achieves the determined production and quality expectations.
? Demonstrates attention to detail.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILL, & ABILITY REQUIREMENTS ? 2
years experience in the medical billing and follow up within the healthcare industry.
? Knowledge of medical terminology, coding, standard hospital operations and financial services preferred but not required.
? Knowledge of cash postings, billing, follow up, insurance registration, authorization management and claim denials.
? Possesses and demonstrates professional telephone demeanor and appearance.
? Demonstrates the ability to work in a fast-paced environment; can multi-task and work independently as well as with a team.
? Displays the ability to keyboard 30 wpm; is proficient in Word, Excel and Outlook.
? While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit for extended periods of time in front of a computer monitor.
? Possesses a high school diploma or equivalent.
? Certificate in medical billing & coding or equivalent preferred.
? Must successfully pass a criminal history screening.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
