Under the general supervision of the Talent Acquisition Specialist, with a dotted reporting line to the HR Manager, the HR Assistant provides administrative, recruitment, payroll, and operational support for the UCLA Extension Human Resources department.
Major responsibilities include:
staff and instructor recruitment, hiring and onboarding assistance, administrative-HR office support, processing payroll transactions, and assistance with special projects.
Incumbent assists in meeting departmental objectives by becoming familiar with all aspects of the work within the department.

Ability to work with large amounts of detail with appropriate attention to accuracy and clarity.
Required 2.
Excellent interpersonal skills to deal effectively with Campus personnel, directors, supervisors, staff employees and the public from a variety of ethnic, social and educational backgrounds.
Required 3.
Skill in working independently, following through on assignments with minimal supervision, and prioritizing assignments which accurately reflect the relative importance of job responsibilities.
Required 4.
Proficiency in word processing skills to process correspondence, reports, spreadsheets and database entries in a Windows environment quickly and accurately.

Discretionary skill in handling confidential materials, records and circumstance.
Required 6.
Ability to respond to customer needs and expectations in a supportive and professional manner, with attention to promptness and a focus on solutions.
Required 7.
Ability to maintain an open approach regarding performance feedback and guidance.
Required 8.
Demonstrated experience using Office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) in a Windows environment, as well as familiarity with email and the internet.
Required 9.
Skill in working independently and ability to multitask by being able to rotate from one activity to another, prioritize tasks, follow through on assignments and address the most critical and pressing demands first.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
