Summary:
The Welcome Baby Outreach Specialist will conduct community outreach at health centers, provider offices and other social service sites aimed at recruiting and enrolling eligible clients into the Welcome Baby program.
The Outreach Specialist will also be responsible for developing relationships with key community contacts, maintaining prenatal outreach logs, following up with potential clients, and conducting client intakes.
The Outreach Specialist will work closely with the Project Director, Clinical Supervisor, and other team members to provide input regarding the program and facilitate the development of a strong and smooth referral process and pathway.
EXPERIENCE/
Qualifications:
At least one year of experience in community outreach.
Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
Must have a reliable automobile for use on the job (mileage to be reimbursed).
Satisfactory Driving Record, Automobile, and Valid Automobile Liability Insurance required.
Ability to function as a member of a multidisciplinary team and work closely with all program staff to provide a continuum of services.
Experience working with families from diverse age, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds.
Demonstrated track record to recruit and enroll eligible clients.
Ability to develop relationships with providers and community organizations and provide input on communication and outreach strategies.
Empathy, warmth, and the ability to establish ongoing supportive relationships with families from diverse backgrounds.
Ability to conduct outreach (group and one-to-one) at provider sites and community-based organizations to recruit potential clients.
Ability to conduct client intakes, including collecting key information in a sensitive and nonjudgmental manner.
Ability to identify appropriate resources for clients and provide referrals as needed during the intake process.
Ability to adhere to all program guidelines, policies and protocols and actively work toward achieving the goals of the program.
Very effective verbal communication and engagement skills to build relationships with families of infants and young children.
Effective skills in writing, organizing, and maintaining complete and accurate documentation.
Culturally sensitive and knowledgeable of the community that will be served.
General computer skills including MS Word.
EDUCATION:
Bachelor's degree in Child Development, Social Work, Psychology, Human Development or other related field; or Child Development Associate (CDA) or Associate of Arts degree with direct experience.
LICENSURES/CERTIFICATION:
Must successfully complete and maintain LA City Fire Card certification at the time of hire or within the first 30 days of employmentMUST HAVES:
All required licensures, certifications, mandatory education; along with annual occupational health screenings must be completed prior to the expiration date or by the end of the month in which they are due.

Carries out the mission, vision and values established by the agency.
Works closely with all program staff to provide a continuum of services.
Develops relationships with providers and community organizations and works closely with the Project Director to create an effective outreach plan and referral pathway.
Participates in appropriate community meetings and marketing and communications efforts as needed.
Provides input on communication and outreach strategies.
Conducts outreach (group and one-on-one) at provider sites and community-based organizations to recruit potential clients.
Contacts potential clients from outreach to encourage participation in the program and enroll them, if appropriate.
Conducts client intakes, including collecting key information in a sensitive and nonjudgmental manner.
Develops trust and rapport with clients and provides support using an empathic and client-centered approach.
Identifies appropriate resources for clients and provides referrals as needed during the intake process.
Completes all needed paperwork for each client in a timely and organized manner, including clear and well written progress notes.
Provides intake data to the Clinical Supervisor and administrative support staff in a timely manner for client enrollment and assignment.
Updates and shares community resources.
Adheres to all program guidelines, policies and protocols and actively works toward achieving the goals of the program.
Attends and complete all trainings as needed.
Attends and participates in all staff meetings, bi-weekly group reflective supervision, and weekly individual reflective supervision.
Works closely with Project Director, Clinical Supervisor and other team members to provide feedback on program documentation, training, procedures and overall structure of program.
Maintains confidentiality of client records/information.
