Los Angeles, CA Los Angeles, CA 6 days ago 6 days ago 6 days ago The Trouble Call Center is the 24-hour hotline for routine repairs of building systems, maintenance, grounds, and for the emergency response to UCLA owned facilities and environmental problems.
The Trouble Call Center is an integral part of the campus-wide emergency response.
As members of the Disaster Initial Response Team, all Trouble Call Center dispatchers receive training in first response, fire suppression, light search and rescue, and restoring utility systems and building functionality in the event of a major disaster.
Under the direct supervision of the Customer Relations Manager, answer phone calls, process on-line work orders, respond to fire and critical equipment alarms by creating work orders and communicating with Utilities, Craft, Custodial, Grounds, Maintenance staff, Managers, Supervisors, and public services by dispatching appropriate personnel and resources to make urgent repairs to buildings, infrastructure, and grounds affiliated with UCLA.
Dispatchers are required to work overtime and a variety of shifts.

Skill in analyzing information, problems, situations, practices, or procedures to:
(1) define the problem or objective; (2) identify relevant concerns or factors, (3) formulate logical and objective conclusions; and (4) recognize alternatives and their implications.
Required 2.
Skill in prioritizing assignments to complete work in a timely manner when there are fluctuations in workloads, emergencies, competing requirements and frequent interruptions.

Skill in listening perceptively, establishing rapport, and gaining trust of others.

Skill in working independently with minimal direction.

Skill in reading standard English text for understanding information to include Emergency Procedure Manuals, maintenance logs, training manuals, and general correspondence.

Working knowledge of the physical plant of UCLA Campus and Medical Center.

Basic knowledge of construction trades terminology and function of various trades.

Working knowledge of spreadsheet and word processing such as Microsoft Excel and Word.

Basic knowledge of computerized building systems, intrusion, and fire alarms.

Ability to receive multiple instructions in a short space of time.

Ability to operate a personal computer and printer to produce work orders and written reports.

Ability to manage a base radio command, paging system, alpha-numeric keypad, multi-line telephone, and intercom system, sometimes simultaneously.

Ability to operate office equipment such as calculator, facsimile machine, copier, lock box, and paper shredder.

Ability to speak on a one-to-one basis using appropriate vocabulary and grammar to obtain and convey information.

Ability to work overtime, changing shifts and holidays with little or no notice to provide coverage as needed.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
