Los Angeles, CA Los Angeles, CA 14 days ago 14 days ago 14 days ago Under the direction of the Archaeological Collections Manager at the Fowler Museum at UCLA, the Repatriation assistant(s) will carry out duties to help ensure the daily implementation of NAGPRA (Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act) and CalNAGPRA (AB 275), which are state and federal regulations with the guidance of the UC Repatriation Policy.
This position will include organization of internal/external documents, handling of confidential information, and research into collections histories.
Fosters community participation among underrepresented Native American tribes and communities by supporting consultation regarding collections at the Fowler Museum.

00 pm Qualifications for Position 15 Records Qualifications Required/Preferred Bachelor's degree or higher in anthropology, museum studies, American Indian Studies, Archaeology, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Required Previous experience in a museum or cultural center environment Preferred Working knowledge of museum related regulations, especially the Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act and CalNAGPRA.
Can be trained Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Required Demonstrated experience working with Indigenous communities.
Preferred Skill in museum object handling.
Can be trained Ability to communicate clearly, productively, cooperatively, diplomatically, and respectfully in the professional environment.
Required Ability to work efficiently and accurately, and to be responsive to an often challenging production environment; ability to work effectively on many projects simultaneously.
Required Ability to operate IBM personal computers, and ability to apply first-line resolutions to technical problems that may arise.
Required Ability to use Adobe Acrobat, PowerPoint, FileMaker Pro, and Paradox.
Preferred Proficient in the use of MS Word and Excel.
Required Ability to lift 40 lbs or more on a regular basis.
Required Excellent fine manual skills, patience, and attention to detail.
Required Ability to organize time, set priorities and perform effectively under deadline.
Required Ability to effectively manage time while working remotely.
