Summary:
The Director of IT Business Applications partners with the CIO, executives, managers, and subject matter experts to evaluate, develop, implement, and support technologies that help improve the effectiveness of our operations.
He/she is a thought leader who will help build the strategic roadmap for technology and influence operations management to leverage common solutions.
The role is responsible for overseeing the portfolio of all enterprise applications, on premise and hosted, supporting finance, design and engineering, construction management, estimating and scheduling, Human Resource, and so on.
The Director also oversees the development and maintenance of company web applications, including Internet and intranet sites.
This leader will identify and deliver solutions that maximize business value from IT investments.
He/she is responsible for recruiting, developing, and leading a team of high performing technical resources.
The ideal candidate is a customer focused professional who can be hands on solving issues and coach others through the problem-solving process.
Responsibilities:
Serve as a strong second-in-command to the CIO to help set the strategic direction for technology across the company, set priorities for the IT team, and serve as back-up for administrative tasks and special projects.
Analyze emerging technologies and proactively assess the company's operating requirements to ensure that business applications meet all current and forecasted business needs.
Recruit, develop, nurture, and guide a team of high performing technology professionals.
Create conditions for staff members to learn and grow through their work.
Develop, document, and institutionalize project management standards across the IT organization.
Partner with functional leaders to establish ownership of business applications and support for new initiatives.
Facilitate Information Technology Council for key platforms, including Autodesk/BIM, scheduling and project/field management, so that the business is driving the IT strategy, cascading knowledge, and aligned on adopting common solutions.
Mobilize functional, IT, and external resources for highly effective deployment of new applications and system enhancements.
Deliver projects and initiatives on scope, on schedule and on budget.
Negotiate license and support agreements with external vendors to minimize operating costs.
Partner with the infrastructure team and other IT team members to effectively address all cloud, hardware, database, security, and software aspects of business solutions.
Ensure deployed solutions address internal controls and Sarbanes Oxley requirements.
Support the VP of IT and Manager of IT Compliance on the management of the IT General Controls program for SOX compliance.
Partner with the infrastructure team to develop disaster recovery and business continuity plans for mission critical business applications.
Regularly test disaster recovery and fail-over routines.
Analyze emerging technologies and proactively assess the company's operating requirements to ensure that business applications meet all current and forecasted business needs.
Research, analyze, and document alternatives to formulate compelling recommendations to senior management.
Solutions will optimize the trade-offs between cost of ownership and service.
Identify long and short-term opportunities to outsource functions that can be managed more effectively by third party experts vs.
in-house resources.
Qualifications:
BA/BS required in Computer Science or other related major.
Master's degree is a plus.
PMP, ITIL or other relevant professional certifications are a plus.
Experience and knowledge of the following technologies :

9 Microsoft SSRS, Power BI, and Reports Now Procore with Morpheus Integration Primavera P6 MS SQL Server, Visual Studio, Azure SharePoint Server 2013 (and later), SharePoint Online Minimum of five years of prior experience in a Director of Information Technology or senior IT management role.
Proven experience leading large-scale software implementation projects and technology management, including leading teams of 10 or more people.
Experience in deploying and managing enterprise applications across many disciplines, including financials, job cost, construction management, HR/Payroll, timekeeping, procurement, estimating, and scheduling.
Excellent project management skills and a strong track record of delivering IT solutions that improve business operations.
Experience facilitating and leading discussions with cross-functional teams to reach consensus on new technologies and embrace common solutions.
Exceptional organizational skills and project management experience to include successful management of large-scale, company-wide initiatives and implementations.
Hands-on experience with Business Intelligence and database reporting tools.
Construction industry experience, including scheduling, estimating, and BIM technologies is preferred.
Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
A skilled business professional who communicates effectively with all levels of end-users and management.
Experience and demonstrated ability with sound business decision making practices.
Ability to work on major projects and manage multiple priorities with minimum supervision is a must.
