Job SummaryThe Workday Finance Systems Manager is responsible for supporting the use of the financial management systems at LMU, including Workday Financials and Adaptive Planning. Specifically, responsible for working closely with the user community to make sure users are taking full advantage of all the features and functions of the application and applying best practices to the business process definitions being implemented; managing the day-to-day operations and overall support of the application including business process changes, financial reporting, and production application issues; serving as the primary Workday Financial information systems subject matter expert to inform user change requests and offer user support; providing support for user training and overall communications of changes related to Workday Financials; providing concise updates to leadership on progress of prioritized initiatives. This role requires a strong understanding of Workday functionalities, accounting principles and general ledger structure, and financial analysis techniques. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills, and be able to work effectively both independently and collaboratively. The Workday Financial Systems Manager operates under the general guidance and direction of the University Controller.Job DescriptionPosition Specific Responsibilities/Accountabilities Overall responsibility for Workday Financial day-to-day support and strategic improvements to the university s financial systems, working collaboratively with functional business owners, ITS, and end user community. Responsible for the success of the Finance division initiatives through specification, maintenance, and administration of the financial information systems and applications. Drive innovation and maximize efficacy of the Workday Financials tool by optimizing the current platform and exploring additional opportunities for continual business process improvements throughout the university. Establish best practices for financial systems use and ensures these practices are used throughout the organization. Gather and analyze the business process requirements of Finance and configure Finance related systems to efficiently meet those needs. Identify and address data inconsistencies and errors. Serve as primary liaison with LMU s ITS department and functional owners on all information technology concerns including system project activities, support tickets, data use, data integrity, finance data security, and issues resolution within all of the Financial Systems. Stay current on the latest Workday functionalities, enhancements trends, and features. Perform testing and troubleshooting of all present and future ERP systems, including testing for system upgrades and/or patches. Manage incidents, track ticket status and partner with teams to resolve issues. Reinforce and maintain long-term vision and product road map of LMU s internal financial management platform and related technologies. Drive advancement on prioritized initiatives and provide leadership with concise updates on progress of prioritized initiatives. Document reporting processes and procedures. Work with functional owners and training/change management team to develop/maintain training and communication for financial systems to the University community. Respond to departmental inquiries regarding automated financial systems and procedures. Represent LMU within community and at professional organizations or associations, serve on committees as required. Provide supervision and direction to the Report Writer and the Finance Customer & Success Coordinator. Perform other duties as assigned or requested. Demonstrate a commitment to outstanding customer service.Requisite Qualifications Typically a Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field or related field or equivalent experience. Incumbent will be expected to continue upgrading knowledge, skills, and abilities needed to keep abreast of regulation/policy changes. 3 years of experience with Workday Financials. Knowledge of Workday Financials architecture. Demonstrated knowledge of automated accounting systems, general accounting principles, spreadsheet application (i.e., Microsoft Excel), word processing (i.e., Microsoft Word), cost reporting, budget projections and analysis, and preparation of budget reports. Working knowledge of accounting within a university environment. Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills. Ability to prioritize competing requirements and enhancement requests, meet deadlines, and work effectively under pressure with a high accuracy rate. Strong attention to detail and accuracy. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Ability to articulate complex requirements to both technical and business audiences. Advocacy for end users and stakeholders to escalated resolution of technical issues Understanding of, and participation in, data governance related to fiscal management data and related technologies. Ability to anticipate and embrace change; demonstrate willingness to achieve, acquire, and utilize new skills and challenging tasks; and is flexible in changing conditions. Desired Skills and Experience Experience working with higher education financial data. Experience with Budgeting & Planning systems such as Workday Adaptive Planning. Experience with data visualization tools, such as Workday Discovery Boards, Tableau or Power BI. Familiarity with accounting principles and best practices. Prior experience with ERP systems. Strong understanding of GAAP/FASB accounting standards and budgeting practices.
