Works, you will be placed with one of our nonprofit partner organizations to serve for 12 months and tasked with a public health project such as:
conducting needs assessments, creating health education, supporting community outreach, and providing health and social services navigation.
There are three types of positions available based on your availability:
Full-Time (40 hours/week), Reduced Half-Time ( 14 hours/week) and Minimum-Time ( 300 hours over the summer).
Time Commitment May 30th, 2024 - May 29th, 2025 (members can finish earlier if the hour requirements are completed earlier) Full-Time (1,700 hours/ year which is 40 hours/week) Reduced Half-Time (675 hours/ year which is 14 Hours a week) Minimum-Time ( 300 hours/summer) Limited weekend availability.
Normal working hours include Monday-Friday (8am-5pm) Benefits of Public Health AmeriCorps Living Allowance - Full-Time members and Reduced Half-Time members will receive a modest bi-weekly living allowance to cover basic expenses as long as a member is currently in service within their year.
Full-Time members will receive $28,000/ year distributed biweekly.
Reduced Half-Time members receive $1,750/ year distributed biweekly.
Minimum-Time members do not receive a living allowance - ONLY the Segal AmeriCorps Education Award.
End of Service Award:
Full-Time members receive the Segal AmeriCorps Education Award of $6,895.
Reduced Half-Time members receive the Segal AmeriCorps Education Award of $2,626.
Minimum-Time members receive the Segal AmeriCorps Education Award of $1,459.
Healthcare Benefit - Full-time members have the option to be enrolled in AmeriCorps Health Insurance plan or can potentially qualify for Medi-Cal.
Professional Development - Receive in-person and virtual professional development opportunities from L.

Works and Public Health AmeriCorps throughout the year.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
