Los Angeles, CA Los Angeles, CA Part-time Part-time $23 an hour $23 an hour Position Purpose The food runner is responsible for accurately and efficiently building food orders, requisitions, and delivering food and food products to outlets and the kitchen.
The food runner shall check the food orders and requisition and then prepare the items listed and deliver them.
This position is also responsible for maintaining a clean work environment in all areas of the food stations, storeroom including dry storage areas and freezer and cooler walk-ins.
Essential Functions Keep the quality of foods at a level consistent with the business flow of the restaurant.
Uses props in a creative, yet suitable manner in order to make the dishes visually appealing.
Monitor the quality of food and inform the restaurant chef of any discrepancies.
Prepares outlet layout with the direction of the restaurant manager and chef.
Assist in setting up and decorating.
Inform kitchen line cooks of what food is needed prior to food running out.
Breaks down station and stores props in a neat, orderly manner for use later.
Keep management informed of the shortage of equipment and supplies.
Return all equipment to its proper storage location using care to minimize breakage.
Knowledge of proper safe handling techniques for all chemicals used.
Report any faulty equipment to management immediately.
Know the location and operation of all fire extinguishing equipment.
Always practice safe work habits to avoid possible injury to yourself or other employees.
Follow all sanitation standards.
Maintain a proactive approach to the health, safety, and security of all staff at all times.
Be vigilant for any hazards, alerting a manager as necessary.
Ensure maintains vigilance, to the public areas and exit routes are clear of any obstruction.
Follow appropriate PPE instructions.
Qualifications, Skills, and Requirements Most work tasks are performed indoors.
Temperature is moderate and controlled by hotel environmental systems; however, must be able to work in extreme temperatures like freezers (-10 F) and kitchens (+110 F), possibly for one hour or more.
Must be able to stand and exert well-paced mobility for up to four hours in length.
Must have the ability to bend, squat, and lift not limited to, pots and pans and trays of food or food items, on a regular and continuing basis.
Must be able to push and pull carts and equipment on a regular basis.
Must be able to exert well-paced ability in limited space and to reach other locations of the hotel on a timely basis.
Must be able to bend, stoop, squat, and stretch to fulfill cleaning tasks.
Must be able to exert a well-paced ability to maneuver between functions occurring simultaneously.
The worker is subject to noise.
There is sufficient noise to cause the worker to shout in order to be heard above the ambient noise level.
Requires grasping, writing, standing, sitting, walking, repetitive motions, bending, climbing, listening and hearing ability, and visual acuity.
Talking and hearing occur continuously in the process of communicating with guests, supervisors, and other employees.
Vision occurs continuously with the most common visual functions being those of near vision and depth perception.
Requires manual dexterity to use and operate all necessary equipment.
Some food preparation experience or training is preferred.
Prior hospitality experience preferred Bi-lingual preferred Basic reading, writing, and math skills Luxury service preferred Education High School or equivalent education preferred Physical Requirements Sitting, walking, climbing stairs, standing, crouching, bending, stooping, grasping, pushing, pulling, near vision, far vision, hearing, talking, smell, taste, and travel may be required.
Safety Requirements Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) may be required when performing work duties that may have the potential of risk to your health or safety.
The hotel will provide the required PPE.
Team members will be trained in the proper use and care of any assigned PPE.
It is your responsibility to report defective, damaged, or lost PPE, or equipment that does not fit properly, to your manager.
Grooming All employees must maintain a neat, clean, and well-groomed appearance.
Specific uniform guidelines and/ or required articles of clothing will be explained to you as part of the orientation process.
Schedule The work schedule is based on the demands of the business.
AM, PM, nights, overnights, weekends, and/or holiday availability are required.
