Experienced Tutor - Physics, Math, Chemistry, Biology in Los Angeles, CA
Hello, I'm Nate!
Whether you need extra help to prepare for an upcoming exam, need continual assistance to prevent from falling behind in class or want to be ready for the start of this upcoming winter term, I can help! I have an Honours Bachelor of Science and have been tutoring math and science for nearly nine years. I continue to enjoy each session; this is what I love to do!
My mother is a teacher that ignited my love for helping students be successful in the subjects I love. My goal is to utilize my passion for math and science to help students not only succeed but to adopt my enthusiasm. In every session, I attempt to inject creativity and humour using realistic applications of the concepts being covered.
I specialize in tutoring the following:
- IB/AP/UNIVERSITY - Physics, Statistics, Calculus, Biology, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Genetics, Microbiology, Organic Chemistry and more!
- TWELFTH GRADE - Advanced Functions, Calculus and Vectors, Data Management, Physics, Biology, Chemistry
- ELEVENTH GRADE - Functions, Physics, Biology, Chemistry
- TENTH GRADE - Math, Science
- NINTH GRADE - Math, Science
- STANDARDIZED TESTING - MCAT, DAT, SAT, ACT, A/AS Levels, GCSE and A(S)-levels
This expertise in a wide variety of subjects and curricula allows me to connect the material to knowledge many students do not know they already possess.
I offer one-on-one tutoring online for at least 1 hour per week or a low-cost option in several small group sessions per week on a variety of courses. These can be in whatever frequency suits your needs and are half hour or full hour meetings at a reduced rate. I’d love to hear from you about the frequency and cost of tutoring services you are seeking and we can make it work!
MY UNIQUE APPROACH: As a result of being a full-time tutor, I am able to dedicate my full attention to the success of students I assist. I have well-established and personalized plans that target weaknesses in learning science and math. Typical progression includes an initial assessment in our first session and regular communication updating progress to parents and students. Working together with students to accomplish their own learning goals is key to fostering a successful working relationship, therefore, I provide specific guidance and/or homework that is tailored to the weaknesses we identify in our time together. I also provide access to additional resources - question banks, videos, tips and tricks, mathematical and scientific software, past exams and a few more surprises.
HOW IT WORKS: I am currently focusing on helping students through online (audio/video) lessons because of its advantages for science and math content. In my studio, sessions are recorded for revisiting in the future. Access to these videos is included in the cost of Small Group Sessions and One-on-One Tutoring services.
I have had tremendous success with my online students (including skeptics) in all of the courses above. Some of the advantages of online tutoring are the reduced rates and convenience compared to in-person, accessibility of resources, and more efficient use of time in lessons. All that is needed is a computer with a webcam! If you have never explored online tutoring, I’d love an opportunity to discuss the advantages (and disadvantages) of online and in-person.
I have time slots available on weekdays as well as the weekend and have competitive payment plans based on hours per week as well as regular weekly Small Group Sessions offered at a reduced rate. If you are a student yourself or you are the parent of a student seeking a tutor, feel free to contact me anytime regarding the assistance you may need. I would love the chance to have a discussion with you about how I can help and show the many resources I have at my disposal.
I look forward to hearing from you soon!
